This piece depicts the dramatic mood and behavioral shifts that Bipolar Disorder entails. While spending time with a close relative who faced this disorder, I was constantly surprised with her positive attitude towards life and used prosthetics and makeup to create visual depictions of the two contrasting moods faced during the disorder. I combined the static, real nature of photography with the kinetic abilities of a Rubik’s cube to form an artwork the audience could interact and empathize with. The use of the Rubik’s cube allowed me to symbolize the confusion and quick mood-switches between the two extremes one faces during this disorder.
